Hello, I'm having problems using your Mach speed control program, ver 3.4.2. I'm able to install it but after the first reboot it never runs, when ever I try to open the program I get this error, (see image)

I've tried reset with a reboot and it is the same.
I'm running a G3 B&W with a Powerlogix G3 1GHz card, OS X 10.4.3 on a fresh install with repaired permissions. Anything I can do to get this program to work? Thanks in advance.

Hmm, something is interferring with MAChSpeed Control loading its kernal extension.
Old versions of Stuffit will do this (just upgrade). You can review the folder: System/Library/Extension for the non standard kext files. One of these is the culprit.
You can also open the Terminal utility and type ioreg. This will present a "tree" type of structure. Look in the area toward the bottom under "IOResouces". The non-Apple/standard culprit may be the issue. They will normally have a .kext file in the extensions folder as well.
I have copied my "IOResources" below as an example (this one works fine).
+-o IOResources <class IOResources, registered, matched, active, busy 0, r$
+-o IOHIDSystem <class IOHIDSystem, registered, matched, active, busy 0,$

I've tried two different programs to unzip the program in addition to Stuffit, Untar and Bomb archive helper. After unzipping and installing I'm getting the same error.

That's the culprit. See if you can remove the kext file.

Sorry first time messing with kext files, how would I go about figuring out which one it is?

Ok, I uninstalled Little Snitch and the kext file seems to have been removed, here is what my ioreg looks like now.

Well... hmm. Now that's a puzzle. Then it wasn't little snitch blocking it. Just to make sure though, discard the files in System/Library called "Extenstions.kextcache" and "xtensions.mkext", and the folder in System/Library/Caches called "com.apple.kernalcaches" . Then rebuild... it wil take a little longer as the system rebuilds these files.
If MSC still won't open, try creating a new user and reboot as that. Does the problem still occur (this will tell us if the problem is in the user folder or main folder).

Well,
I have some other solutions. There is obviously an issue here. But let's take it offline, and work through it (if you are willing). Then we can post the final fix here.
You can email me direct at support@daystar-tech.com
Best,
Gary

How long do I have to wait for support? I'm still not able to use the program as advertised. Anyway I can get a refund?

Well, sorry, we have been trying to duplicate without any success. Some third party is blocking the MAChSpeed Control Extension from Loading.
The easiest way to find the third party extensions is to do the following:
Open terminal and type the following:
kextstat | grep -v apple
This will show a list of all non-apple extensions runnng.Last edited on Thu Jun 22nd, 2006 11:53 am by Gary

Well, that shows that you are not running any third party kexts....
I'm stumped. Something is haywire in your system. This is a first after 10,000 copies distributed.
I suggest either doing a clean install (Archive and Install), or giving up.
