Dear DayStar Technology,

I've received last friday, :D :D :D 4th of may your shipment and saturday early morning, I replaced the CPU, but right now I'm not completely satisfy because two issues:

1. after a little heartache    because my iMac doesn't start at all, I found that one of two memory card sent is faulty. So I installed again my old 64MB memory card again. I've prepared a little movie to shows you what happen, first with both your memory, after with one of your memory and my old 64MB. :X :X :X :X :X :X
So I'm asking to you, because the distance between us, how I can have the faulty memory changed or we could find another solution such as ship another memory and I trash the faulty one or give my money back and so on.
Anyway, you can watch the movie downloading the file here:

2. I tried to install MacOS X 10.3 but during the process of installation, I continuously have a lot of Kernel Panics during the process. I had to enter in the Open Firmware to take again the control of my iMac and clean the HD I reinstall macOS 9. The OF version is the latest available, taken from the MacOS 9.2.1 retail CD that was included in the retail box of Panther, if I remember well.

I bought the upgrade trust in what you declared on your site to create a little not expensive server in my home.
I would like to install MacOS X 10.3.9 and put the iMac in my wireless network but right now it's impossible. :X :X :X :X :X :X :X :X :X :X :X :X

Please let me know how can solve my problems above.

Waiting for your reply,

best regards.

First, I am sorry for your issues.

Since you are handy with Picutres, please take a picture of the bad piece of RAM. This actually may not be bad RAM, but a bad cache.

Also, please startup the system and open MAChSpeed control and disable the Cache. This will tell us if the cache is bad, causing the issues.

Ok, I made few tests.

- I've disable the cache in MacOS 9 with MACHSpeed and the iMac seems work better now but pretty slowly. Infact, before disabling the cache, I got few freeze, especially trying to see some DivX files. So I think maybe you're right and there's a problem on the cache memory as you written.

- Tried to install MacOS X.3 again but the cache was disabled in OS 9 and it was no good. As before, after the installing process starts and after about 10% of installation I got a Kernel Panic. It was pretty simple to take the control of the iMac because I left MacOS 9 on the disk....

- RAM: I installed the original cpu card with the 256MB of RAM suspected to be faulty. The iMac doesn't start and it happens like in the first part of my movie. This test confirms that the RAM is faulty too.

So I have two problems here. So, please, let me know what I have to do know.

thanks.

Hi Michele,

Well, this is a problem card. Sorry, we actually test all cards for international orders overnight. We need to repair or replace the new CPU card. I have sent an email with shipping instructions for the card and RAM.
