Hey guys...

I just noticed that there are different options for upgrading my Dual 450mhz machine.

I ran my system through Mac-Tracker and it says my machine is a Gigabit-Ethernet machine. I compared it to the Powermac AGP model and there a few if any differences that I could see.

My question basicly is since a Gigabit-Ethernet machine runs a AGP bus do I need to purchase the one listed through this site that is "specifically" called a Gigabit-Ethernet processor or will the one listed as AGP suffice?

If someone could explain the difference in laymans terms I would greatly appreciate it.

Gigabit-Ethernet

AGP

From what I can tell there's isn't a difference in the upgrade but who knows?

My Mac is a :

  Machine Model:    Power Mac G4
  CPU Type:    PowerPC G4  (2.9)
  Number Of CPUs:    2
  CPU Speed:    450 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):    1 MB
  Memory:    1.25 GB
  Bus Speed:    100 MHz
  Boot ROM Version:    4.2.8f1
  ATY,Rage128Pro
  1.25 GB SDRAM

The Gigabit Ethernet and AGP (Graphics) systems are basically the same.
Both have AGP Graphics. The Gigabit Ethernet system was the later systems, so named because that version added 10/100/1000 baset (gigabit) ethernet capability to the PowerMac G4.

You can see all the PowerMacs and compare their differences via the Apple link below:

http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/index_title.html

The two links you selected below actually are the same card. We ask you to define the diffrences, which helps us in later support, if needed.

So this card that you have listed on Daystar will work for my machine?

It's confusing because through the Daystar site/store I arrive at the same card wether I select Gigabit Ethernet or AGP Graphics from the options.

That's all I really need cleared up.

BTW- Thanks for the quick responce.
