Hi, does it work as uncompressed image data stream? Or just relay to DV compressed video format?
My question is just because i can't use 2 DV device at the same time on a PowerMac G5 and i need to connect to my PowerMac 2 video quad processors.
thanks,
Luciano

The ProView USB (and now the XtraView USB) both are native uncompressed YUV 4:2:2. The issue capturing uncompressed though, is writing it to the drive. You will need a very fast drive, or raid array to keep up with the device. We normally recommend photo jpeg, wth the 'better' setting for fast and smaller file sizes with minimal loss.
DV format uses a compression that has both interframe and interfield compression. The advantage of using Photo jpeg is that you won't have the extra loss associated with the interfield compression of DV.

Actually you can add the DV device as well. The multiple / bandwidth issue is simply on the USB bus.
We have also expanded the Mac USB Video Capture line... Which fully supports multiple devices as well!
InterView USB Video Capture
(USB 1.1, 1/4 Screen with seperate cable/input for audio)

ProView USB Video Capture
(USB 2.0, Full Screen with seperate cable/input for audio)

XtraView USB Video Capture
(USB 2.0, Full Screen all-in-one capture a/v capture device)

Both the ProView USB and XtraView USB support multiple devices. But.. there is a bandwidth problem. A single device can use up to 90% of USB 2.0's available bandwidth. Considering that... and the fact that macs only have one USB 2.0 controller on the logic board, you are limited to a single device.
You can add Mac compatible USB 2.0 cards and add a ProView USB or XtraView usb device per card.
If you are considering webcam, security or surveillance situations though... I strongly suggest using the InterView 3 devices. The InterView USB capture devices have exclusive hardware compression technology built in, which reduces the bandwidth requirements to a trickle... allowing you to connect up to 7 devices to a single Mac without any additional hardware requirements.
