Hi All

I've been running with the XLR8 G4/550 Uppgrade card with 1 Gb RAM on my Pismo for a while now and find it very stable. I'm now just looking to experiment with the manual setting for the Backside cache setting.

The Backside Cache has been rated for 1 Mb at 250 Mhz. The manual settings that I'm allowed to change is 275 Mhz and 200 Mhz. So, seeing that this is rated at 250 Mhz, shouldn't I be able to see a manual setting of 250 Mhz as an option? I try going up to 275 Mz, but I get unstable performance, so I revert back to the default 220 Mhz.

I guess I should just leave it at 220 Mhz? Has anyone else had any luck with running at 275 Mhz for their Backside Cache?

Thanks in advance.

I'm just guessing here, and I'm a fellow customer, not a Daystar employee, but it is probably related to a relationship between a multiplier and your CPU speed.  250 doesn't go into 550 very evenly.  I know, neither does 220, but that's my guess.

Is the 250 option greyed out or does it not even exist?  I'm curious...

The 250 Mhz option is not listed, so my best option to select is the default 220 Mhz. I'm really itching to try 250 Mhz if possible.

Thanks all.

The options are based on the multipliers available, based on the bus speed.
