Why does Daystar not use this G4? (I think it is much better, than the 130nn)

And is it not possible to upgrade at G4 to Intel logic board? (because it is the same case)

The 7448 is an improvement on the 7447 in concept. So is the 7447A which we use. The 7448 though is very limited in power and MHz speed, and not an exact pin compatible drop-in. The logic board has to be designed for it.

Also, Apple blocks the 7448 CPU being used on the Mac in both firmware and in the OS kernal. Both can be patched, but then everytime you run an Apple update, the system would stop booting!

There have been a few attempts and we've even shipped one, but the software headaches are not worth the limited benefit.

And is it not possible to upgrade at G4 to Intel logic board? (because it is the same case)
No, it is impossible to design an Intel upgrade for the G4 systems. There is very little similarity between the two hardware designs and would require a full logic board design. The cost of the logic board alone is prohibitive... even assuming that Apple would provide the core firmware license required (which would never happen again... remember Jobs actually killed the clones as one of his larger first acts back at Apple).

Yes, that runs and is limited to 10.4.3 max. It it gets updated, it will not run.

An Intel Logic board cost? Based on the R&D and prospected volume, about $100,000 each.

First apple drop G4 and then do anything to prevent the G4 users to upgrade there old old G4. I will never buy an apple product anymore.

(and I will sell my powerbook 1.67mzh)
