my 1.67GHz 15" powerbook seems to have a problem with its logic board. Now and then the display looses its resolution and is normal after rebooting. I wonder whether it is due to a defect in the graphic card on the logic board. Is there a way to test it?

Thanks

Is it also loosing its date? The loss of both could be a bad PMU/motherboard battery.

If this is the only issue, It could be due to problem holding PRAM. Or simple PRAM corruption.

Try Zapping PRAM to clean it out, by holding down the command-optoin-p-r buttons right after boot. Hold the keys until it re-chimes three times. Then test again.

You can also reset NVRAM by booting holding the keys, command-option-o-f, which will take you to the open firmware screen. Type 'reset-nvram' then type 'reset-all' to reboot.

If it is a problem battery issue, then first try resetting the PMU (Power Management Unit) by hitting the power button while holding the control-optoin-shift key.

If that doesn't get it, we can review it. (Diagnostics are free with service).
