I read that Freescale ha achievied an agree with IBM to produce chips based on PowerPC 970 cores. I also read that IBM has done works on PowerPC 970GX, that could run up to 3GHz. I'm wondering when we could see the first processor upgrades for powermac g5 lineup.

| The problem on the G5 is that the CPU speed is directly tied to the memory bus. Upgrades are not likely.

"Not likely", but still not impossible. Is too bad have no chance to upgrade PowerMac G5, especially following the Apple choice to switch to Intel chips. I hope (you) could get your way into the PowerMac G5 processor upgrade.
