Hi - When are the MDD (167 bus) CPU upgrades expected out? - I saw a rumour site that these were "being worked on" by Powerlogix - Is Daystar planning somthing similar??

Is Daystar planning somthing...
The Apple Power Macintosh Mirror Drive Door (MDD) systems are strange creatures. There are actually 6 different logic boards that make up the series. The MDD itself was killed by executive management, then restarted using an older design, due to customer/market demand to continue to have a fast dual bootable system (one of Steve Job's mistakes, which is rarely discussed... the pre-mature killing and forced re-intro of the PowerMac G4).
Yes we are working on an upgrade. When, though? Is a matter of time, and cost. The 7448 CPUs are still extremely expensive. The design is more complex, due to the need for full software support (Apple excludes the 7448 in its software/firmware), and the need to handle the large number of design variations and corrections.
We do have one or two 1.3 GHz Dual MDD CPU upgrades in stock. Thise are basically built out, one at a time, and are available via the product options at:

I plan to upgrade the CPU in my G4 MDD, which operates at 1,25GHz, with a dual CPU upgrade card. There are surprisingly little options available compared to the Quicksilver models. This thread answered my main question: Why aren't more options available.
I would like to buy rather a dual 7457 upgrade than a 7447 because of added L3-cache support. I read that it was available from Gigadesigns for a very short time but then replaced with a 7455B. What was reason to go one step backwards and will we ever see a 7457 or even a 7448 upgrade for the G4 MDD?

| The MDD is limited by Apple's design, sorry.
