Thanks for the Question.

The simple answer is no. An upgrade to Intel for the PowerPC PowerBooks would require a completely new motherboard.

As you probably know. We have announced the PowerBook G4 Aluminum CPU Upgrades in Work as noted below...

PowerBook Alumimum Systems running at 1.92 GHz!

We are actually handling beta upgrades for these now.

We have done a number of these, they are all working excellent. The beta program just allows us a little more time to get the logistics nailed down, and to get the marketing in order.

The advantage to you, is that the beta program will provide the upgrade at cost $299 plus shipping, rather than the targeted $499 later. If you have any upgrades or issues, please let us know in the order notes during checkout, and you will be contacted upon check-in here. We will also contact you after the upgrade for a short review and feedback.

You can order at:
https://daystar-store.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=555

This is a limited time offer. Full Daystar warranties apply

will the upgrade for the 12" PB be available for the 867 MHz? The beta order provides only for the 1.0Ghz. My PB needs to go into the shop (power but no chime), I would like the possibility to have it fixed and upgraded at the same time. I know the inside is a bit different on rev A 12" PB compared to the 15" and 17".

thanks for any input,

chris

sorry, but at this point no. the 12"/867 use a 745x version CPU. The only CPU upgrade possible would be a 1.35 7457. While much faster, it is also much more epensive. And there may be issues with the L3 cache. The upgrade would have to retail at $599 (plus shipping)... and I am not sure many folks would pay it.
